Ecologycal models in geography
Well, I present to Professor Ramiro Bustamante, Ph.D. in ecological sciences. He is academic of the faculty of Biology and Sciences of the University of Chile. He is not Geographer, but he works in so many areas as for example; Ecology, Environment and Ecological of Invasions mixing differents tools like Geographic Information Systems, Statistics of Climatical conditions, Natural Index, and a lot of biological parameters. Are so interesting his studies, i mean, is a way of understanding how nature behaves!, it's like anticipating the future. He has made numerous works about the habitats of plants, linking ecosystem ecology with biogeography.
I know him in person, and he has sense of humour, but is very proffesional, he dont like the people who dont work, and everybody of his team (like Lua and Pancho) are so funny and at same time also scientifics.
Currently in the Laboratory where he works, i am helping to modeling the ecologycal niche of the Escholtzia Californica, a beautyfull flower than live in almost all of Chile, but that is spreading like a plague by removing the habitat of native plants.
This type of research are very important becouse can be an essential component to address climate change and future transformations of our habitat.

For my workshop of Architecture, I am making greenhouses, that produces flower of the Atacama desert, If you have some information about that type of flowers, like times of reproduction, it would be really helpfull, by.
ResponderEliminarHi JP.
ResponderEliminarDear JP, why you didn´t choose a geographer to put in your blog. It´s terrible! Nooo, it´s ok.
I don´t understand nothing about ecology or biogeography, but I suppose that his studies are very interesting.
See you in class,
Ivo.
I know him because he was the teacher of my brother in the science faculty at the University of Chile. He tell me that Ramiro is a great ecologist and researcher!
